Aqunia Flood
Flood forecasting that decision-makers can actually act on.
Days-ahead flood depth and inundation maps — spanning entire river basins, countries, and even the continent, down to local-level resolution.
Leveraging cutting-edge hydrological simulation research, including outcomes from Today’s Earth — developed by JAXA and the University of Tokyo.
Floods Are Getting Worse. And the Demand for Early Warning Is Growing.
Most flood prediction systems are either too local or too coarse to act on.
Aqunia Floods is built to overcome that tradeoff.
Three capabilities that set it apart.
Predict flood risk across entire countries and transboundary basins. Works even in regions with sparse or no ground observation networks, using satellite data and physics-based simulation.
Anywhere on EarthAqunia's localization technology connects global simulation to high-resolution inundation models — delivering flood depth and extent at local-level for the areas that matter most.
High-resolutionForecasts issued several days before a flood event — giving governments and operators the time needed to deploy resources, issue evacuation orders, and activate BCPs.
Not hours — daysFrom global rivers to local inundation.

From weather to inundation map — end to end
Starting from global weather models (ECMWF), we generate localized high-resolution rainfall data using AI.
Rainfall data processed with a land surface model to estimate runoff, soil moisture, and evapotranspiration.
Using Global River Hydrodynamic Model, we simulate river discharge and water level changes across large basins globally.
Detailed inundation models visualize flood depth and extent at meter-level resolution for critical areas.
Step 2–3 are powered by ILS (Integrated Land Simulator, comprised of MATSIRO & CaMa-Flood). We leverage research from Today's Earth, a global water cycle simulation system developed at JAXA and the University of Tokyo.

How we work together.
Select target region (for PoC and full operation) and identify key stakeholders. Define data environment, operational requirements, and success criteria. Execute MoU agreements where applicable.
Show global standard prediction results using globally available data. Verify forecast accuracy against historical flood events. Evaluate technical and operational applicability with your team.
Further model localization using local observation data. Physical model calibration and integration with existing operational systems or SaaS deployment and user account setup.
Service launch, user training, and handover to full operational use. Continuous model updates utilizing latest observational results and expanding coverage as needed.
